Documents raise questions on treatment of detainees
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) used the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to obtain thousands of pages of documents about the deaths of 190 detainees in American-run prisons. The ACLU contends 25 to 30 of those deaths constituted "unjustified homicide."
The ACLU filed the request with the Department of Defense in 2009, and eventually received 2,624 pages of documents. The records include about 124 autopsy reports and 133 investigation reports.
