Summary:

Despite pro-environment campaign pledges, the Obama Administration's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has referred fewer cases for federal prosecution than under its predecessor, and the investigatory unit has fewer investigators than the office did at the end of the Bush Administration - and fewer than required by law.

Notes:

An advocacy group, Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER), used FOIA to obtain documents from the EPA. The EPA contended that it is hiring more investigators, and will reach the legal minimum soon.
