Summary:

The military sent troops with serious psychological problems into Iraq and kept them in combat even after they had been identified as suicidal or mentally ill, The Hartford Courant reported after using FOIA to obtain records on the military's treatment of mental illness. The military did not release the identities of the service members who killed themselves in Iraq, but the Courant was able to identify some through records, interviews with family, friends and fellow troops.
